Deus Ex: Human Revolution movie on the way

CBS films announced overnight that they had acquired the rights to a movie adaptation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The company are said to be “working closely” with Eidos Montreal on the adaptation, which has sold more than 2.5m copies worldwide. ”No one knows Human Revolution like the team that created it, and we look forward to working with them from day one to make a film adaptation worthy of the ‘Deus Ex’ name,” said CBS’ co-president Terry Press, in what we can only assume was a delighted tone. You may begin placing bets on who will play grizzled ex-SWAT leading man Adam Jensen in the comments.

Off the top of my head, Ray Liotta would fit the role pretty fucking well (with a bit of makeup). Colin Farrell has the right look but I don’t think he’s bad ass enough.
Karl Urban. But seeing as he’s got Dredd coming out in a couple of months, he might not be too keen on jumping straight into the shoes of another gravelly voiced sci-fi action character.
I think Bradley Cooper would be a good option.
I hope its good… most game to movie are terrible. And often they stuff up because in the case of some they hint all the time at the game (DooM) they change standard plot stuff (DooM) and they have a crap director (DooM).
Or when a game actually seems like a simple conversion they completely change it! (Max Payne)
They should actually be getting the rights to Deus Ex and talking to Warren Spector in my opinion also.
Hopefully it’s not awful, but time will tell.
Wonder if they’ll include the bit where you go trawling through ALL the changeroom lockers looking for ammo.

Although if its simply in the game world, it may have a chance. I’d rather DX sticks to being a game though.
Even though Max Payne was changed, I still think it followed the style of the game very closely, which made it enjoyable.

I was thinking about this a couple of weeks ago, when I finished playing the game (finally got it off my Pile of Shame. Personally, Joe Flanigan would be awesome in the main role, IMHO.

omg yes, how the fuck do you screw that up?? All they had todo was follow the game storyline to a T and half more mark voice overs like the beginning of the film.
I loved the in game cut scenes of that game, the dark voice over comic book like storytelling.
Anyways more to the point at hand, I was gonna suggest brad pitt but i think wyld got it with joe flanigan…. or what about nathon fillion?? (I hope this movie turns out good).
Personally I’m hoping they include the bit when Jensen confronts the first boss and realises going all steath augs was a poor choice….so he drafts and posts an angry tirade to the internet while he waits for a patch.

Deus Ex will be an interesting conversion, there’s plenty to say about what humanity is and how we can effect it. I can see a lot of it being cut back down to the most crucial scenes.
There is a lot of content to cover and only so much time.
