Battlefield 4 confirmed, beta tied to Medal of Honor

Battlefield 4 Leak

Sunday’s leaked reveal that Medal of Honor: Warfighter pre-orders would receive access to a Battlefield 4 beta has been thoroughly confirmed today by an EA press release. “The exclusive Battlefield 4 beta will be available in Spring 2013,” writes the press release. “Additional details regarding Battlefield 4 will be revealed at a later date.”

“Though Battlefield and Medal of Honor Warfighter each offer players a completely unique experience,” chipped in Frank Gibeau, “they are united by their underlying technology base – Frostbite.” Following the announcement, EA immediately issued another statement claiming that Battlefield 3 wasn’t over yet, and that “its story is still just beginning”. So there you go – there’s at least twelve months of life left in the (not very) old dog yet.

At least it will be more than 12 months between BF3 and BF4 releases. We’ll still be getting over the last DLC’s and BF4 will be right around the corner.

Still too soon for BF4 IMO.

Agreed. I could understand BF2143 or some other spin off, but BF4 already? Please don’t let this be the beginning of the decline of BF into the same sort of yearly rehash that COD has become…

EA have stated that one year it’s a battlefield game and the next year is Medal of Honour.

This year is the year of Medal of Honour.
2 years isn’t as bad as a yearly release in my opinion.

lordapophis,

I have to agree, The releases from dice have been strong and worthy of forking out cash. They have done well with the enterprise with battlelog and expansions etc, please stop with the references and believe in the product they are bringing out. Besides, BF4 can be a direct plug to the new consoles am I correct? is it not around the same time frame it would make perfect sense in a marketing pov.

Still would rather see 2143.

Good to see people aren’t whinging about the preorder beta this time around… it’s a bugger all difference in time, wasn’t it only a week or two early for the BF3 beta?

Also, registering strong concern over BF’s direction… this CoD-like release pattern does not bode well… expecting maps to get tighter and brighter :(

treyarach develop one year, infinty ward develop for the following year?

They should fix 2 things before they start on another BF game.

1. Enemy footsteps – it’s a must have in any FPS game.

2. Bullets going straight through everyone hitting multiple people.

Just like BF2 it’s the little things that kill the game.

Also bring back the AT4! I’m sure it wasn’t in BF3 because the game engine was too buggy for it. The TOW’s on release (on the same map) all had different sensitivity…

I’m surprised BF4 is in the works so soon, and so publicly.

I like a sequel to come out in 4 or so years, enough time for graphic improvements etc to be made.

Or you may as well be releasing a Doom 2.

I am very worried about this. I don’t want BF to turn into CoD, a crude copy and paste with a tweaked single player campaign every damn year.

1) Although the BF3 campaign is quite good, who the hell plays BF for the SP
2) BF3 was new in every sense of the word. That’s what made it so damn good. If BF4 is released, the exact same gameplay only with different maps or some rubbish, BF will go down the toilet.

BF4 this soon? Goddamnit, say goodbye to the BF franchise.

Unless they return to the BF2 awesomeness, commanders, 6 man squads, large maps, TEAM WORK…ect

The 4 man squad is killing me, they need to be at least 5 or 6! BF4 better not be rushed, I have invested in bf3 and all the expansions so it better not go down the toilet

Battlefield games have a history of seeing fairly regular releases:
2011 BF3
2010 Bad company 2
2009 Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield 1943
2008 Bad company 1
2007 was 2142

I can’t be bothered to keep going, but you get the point I’m sure, sure 2009 wasn’t a “major” battlefield title, and BC1 was consoles only, but they still have been producing regular games in the series.

Till there’s some actual details of this game, I don’t see anything to be annoyed or upset about, or thinking it spells the doom of the Battlefield franchise.

^2142 came out 2006.

+
2005 was BF2
2004 was BF Vietnam
2002 was BF1942

:D

They can make as many BF titles as they wan’t but none will ever be better than 2004′s Battlefield Vietnam, Best in the series!
