Battlefield 4 appears in Origin listing

Battlefield 4 Leak

The US Origin store has curiously popped up with an announcement that users who pre-order the Medal of Honor: Warfighter Digital Deluxe Edition will receive access to the Battlefield 4 beta. As you are probably aware, no such game has been announced or confirmed by EA, but it wouldn’t be a huge stretch of the imagination to presume that Battlefield 4 is on the way. EA has made no official comment on the matter other than to quickly pull the announcement down and replace it with a Battlefield 3 Premium image.

I’m shocked.

Jeez cashcows ‘r’ us if this is true, they haven’t even released half the expansions to bf3 yet.

I am not that shocked, if you coinsider a few things. The next Gen consoles are on their way, there is no doubting that now, so wouldnt it be in the best insterests of the studio to start work on BF4 ASAP to go on the new consoles? the new consoles undoubtably be very DX11 capable and im sure having a Showcase title for the next gen is the way to go.

That made sense from business point of view, since it’s easier to make hype with a new iteration.

From tech point of view however, BF3 is already fairly far into the tech… and part of the reason why the BF3 on the current console had to be trimmed down and chopped to much lower fidelity just to make it viable to run at all.

Which likely means that BF4 is likely going to be just a polished and improved work of BF3 if it comes up at all.

So in that sense it’s shocking since it’s likely that the next gen console would be the first console to even be able to render BF3 in it’s full fidelity, which in the mind of a buyer doesn’t exactly sound like it’s worth making a whole new iteration of a game when it’s going to be just an improved iteration.

jjmclowski,

It was sarcasm.

lol get a pc? even next gen consoles won’t be able to run bf3 maxed out like pc’s. It be more cut down on high settings and most likely won’t run at 1080p even. it will look really close because you’re generally sit further back on the lounge well for most console gamers.

I just don’t see the necessity of consoles anymore. I haven’t played a good classic console exclusive this gen that you compare to that on the ps2, gamecube, N64, PS1 etc. Its all games designed for pc that just don’t work on a console.

I just don’t see the necessity of consoles anymore.

I cant understand how they play without a mouse and keyboard. It unnatural!

I remember when Doom came out and people started using the mouse and keyboard to play where I used the keyboard only and use to rage against them all the time.

One day I used the mouse out of curiosity and never went back. :P Ignorance is bliss.

Yes, a multiple billion dollar industry just isn’t necessary. Laughable to think consoles will bow down to pc’s anytime soon, if ever.

BF4 will be a marginal upgrade to Frostbite but I wouldn’t expect anything drastically different – the engine was rebuilt for BF3.

Agreed. On another level BF3 still needs a lot of work to get to the point where the gameplay is consistent. Why make another game with an engine that is flawed? (rhetorical question, I think we all know the answer)

BF4 has now been confirmed

Was looking forward to BF2143 but since that’s not happening anytime soon luckily Planetside 2 is almost here.
